here we stand
Welcome to Here we Stand.

We are a AU DC forum, which accepts a wide variety of canon alongside original characters. We have a minimum 200 word per post count; a short application with optional RP sample after your first character here; and a 200 word history requirement only. Our activity requirements are one post minimum per month for canon and original characters.

Our plot focuses on a rising darkness which is causing magical disturbances throughout the world, bringing hardships to the heroes. The source of this darkness has been revealed and while they continue to gather support, it is up to the heroes to find a way to stop them before they reach their goal.

SPECTRE WATCH The Spectre is gathering more allies for his cause, to cleanse the world of the filth which lives within it. Driven by curiosity he seeks to test the so called 'heroes' of this world by presenting them with chaos, hardship and personal tests. At the moment, he is unimpressed by the actions of the various heroes and remains unswayed from his decision.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't you guys accept Superman characters?

A number of reasons to be honest but the main reason is an issue of balancing. Superman and the other sons/daughters of Krypton are ridiculously over-powered when it comes to fighting human beings. Although arguments are made that mortal men such as Batman can defeat the likes of Superman, the reality is that there are conditions that must be met for this to be true. Such as radioactive chunks of Krypton being on hand, magic being used or Superman holding back by a rather large amount. None of which could be easily used if Superman was to fight, say, The Joker. So, logically, the only characters able to balance Superman and the like are characters like Darkseid, which doesn't solve the balancing issue with the humans, Atlantians and Amazons.

So rather than monitor those accounts almost constantly for god-modding (very easy to do with someone with as many powers as Supes), we have just taken them out of the equation.

Why don't you guys accept Alien characters or use of Alien technology?

Some of this is the same answer as above. By and large, many Alien races and technologies tend to be far superior to humans in battle and this leads to the same balancing issue. For example, Lobo would be able to destroy the world with Batman, Green Arrow and everyone else being nothing more than an annoyance.

The second, and main, reason is that if we open up Alien characters there will need to be a space area opened up on the site. And the difficulties of space travel (as well as the size of space) would make it next to impossible for people to have open threads in space. And this is without going into making and maintaining a lot of sub-forums for planets that would likely be used once and then forgotten about.

Do I have to use a posting template?

Certainly not!

Though many of the members will be using templates to post, you are under no obligation to use one yourself. If you would like to use one but don't want to bother finding one on a resource site or making one yourself, drop the Admins a line with your ideas for one and they will make one to your specifications, time permitting.

We will also provide some very basic ones on this site in a pinned thread within the Information section should you wish to use a simple one.

Do I have to ship my canon character with who they're with in canon?

Certainly not!

If you want to RP Batman falling in love with Harley Quinn and said clown-lady forgetting about Joker and falling for his enemy? That's fine. As long as both RPers are in agreement about the ship then it is fine. Be warned though, this doesn't mean, in this example, that Batman would ignore Catwoman's existence. They are still characters who are intricately linked.

Is there a minimum word count?

As stated in the rules, there is a minimum word count needed for each and every in-character post done. This count is 200 words, not including coding.

Is there a limit to the number of characters I can play?

There is no limit to the number of characters you can play - Provided you can keep up with all of them. If we notice certain characters of yours are getting neglected we may contact you to put a hold on other applications being made until they're all active again. As we say we'd ideally like one post a week from each character.

How is the 'Rising Darkness' affecting Atlantis and Themyscria?

Both societies are noticing that the magics they use to maintain their lands are beginning to weaken. For Atlantis this means that the crystals used to power the dome of Atlantis aren't lasting as long as they used to. As for the island of the Amazons, the main issue is that their island is no longer hidden entirely - to the human eyes it appears to be there sometimes and then disappearing with the magic the next moment.

Both societies have noticed the increase in dark magic users as well.

What seasons/verses are you using?

Batman: Comics/Arkham Games

Arrow: TV

Constantine: TV/Comics

Aquaman: Comics

Wonder Woman: Comics

Lucifer: TV/Comics

Flash: TV

My character has been pended or denied, what should I do next?

If your character has been pended all you need to do is make the changes to the application requested, normally they will be small in their nature and easily sorted. If there are a lot of changes that you disagree with, then you can discuss it with a staff member but we will have to deny your application if you are unwilling to make changes that we deem are necessary.

In the case of pending applications, both admins will read over the application and contact you with needed changes if these changes are major in nature. This is to make sure that we are not bias in our readings and requests.

If your character is denied the best thing to do would be to work on another profile, possibly with the help of a staff member to make sure it gets accepted this time around.

Can I play an Earth Two character?

You can play a canon Earth Two character from the Flash-verse only. Which means you cannot play Batman etc from Earth Two - just those characters who appear on the Flash TV show. You cannot play an OC from Earth Two.

When registering your character make sure you do so with their first name and surname as usual, but then put 'E2' after their name so that the registration will go through. This goes for characters whose names are different from their Earth One counterparts as well.
