Full Name:Jade Nguyen
Parents: Paula Crock (Huntress), Lawrence Crock (Sportsmaster)
Siblings: Sister: Artemis Crock
Face Claim: Kelly Hu
Identifying Features: A few minor scars from training.
Jade was raised to be an assassin, and she is what her training has made her. She’s unyielding, calculating, and unwavering in pursuit of her goals. She “naturally” has a passionate nature and a bit of a temper, but she had been taught to master both of those things from early childhood, to make anger into a servant, rather than a master.
As a result, she tends to suppress her emotions, and to rationalize her emotional responses, frequently to the point of deluding herself about her true motives.
powers - strengths - weaknesses
Powers: Jade has been trained in the skills of an assassin from the time she could walk. She is a master of the sword, and is even more skilled with sai and knives, which she prefers for close combat. Jade is also skilled with the bow, although she will (grudgingly) admit that her little sister is (slightly) more gifted as an archer, even as she is more skilled with the sword.
Weaknesses: Jade is human, with all the vulnerability to physical and supernatural damage that implies. She’s been taught to be very good at killing people, and although she has the social skills needed to move smoothly in society, she’s on less certain ground when it comes to intimate relationships.
Skills: After, literally, a lifetime of training, Jade is at the peak of human speed, endurance, agility, strength. She has excellent skills with sword, sai, knives and bow, along with martial arts, acrobatics and tracking skills. Thanks to her training with the League of Assassins, she has a good education, albeit one focused on the many ways of killing people, a good understanding of etiquette and social graces. She also speaks Arabic, Vietnamese, French, Spanish, English and Italian. .
Jade was trained to be an assassin since toddlerhood by her parents, Sportsmaster and Huntress. She had a much more “traditional” childhood than did her younger sister, and was close with both her parents, although much of that closeness centered on combat training. When she turned six she was sent to the League for further training, over the objections of her mother. Jade excelled at the League school, and was initially upset when, at age nine, she was called home to spend time with her newborn sister. When she met the baby, her emotions flipped, and she became extremely attached and protective of “her baby”.
When Huntress was sent to prison, Jade was twelve, and without their mother present to act as a buffer, Jade’s home life became intolerable, especially since her father was working hard to make Artemis view her as a rival, and pushing her to compete with Artemis, and not hold back in their training sessions.
After a year of this, Jade ran away from home, going back to the League school, where she quickly rose to the top of her class. Her one regret was that she couldn’t take her sister with her, but she knew that if the League didn’t accept her, the streets were no place for a four year old, and even if the League school took her back, they’d likely send Artemis back to their father.
However, she had little time for regrets, spending most of her time training, and perfecting her skills. It was during this time that she stopped using her father’s surname, and took on her mother’s maiden name, Nguyen.
By the time she was a full member of the League, Huntress had been released from prison, and had taken Artemis into her care. Jade wasn’t pleased that Artemis was being steered towards being a “caped crusader”, but she respected her mother’s choices and as a result kept somewhat of a distance from her sister, although Jade maintained regular contact, and was still fiercely loyal to her family.
Recently, with her mother’s health failing and her sister pregnant (by John Constantine, of all people) Jade has decided that she needs to take a more active role in her sister’s life, and so she’s arrived in Starling City.
Jade frowned slightly as she re-read her sister’s text. Artemis was pregnant. And by John Constantine, of all people. She hadn’t had the misfortune of dealing with the man directly, but his reputation was...unsavory, to say the least. Feckless, reckless, and, what was the phrase? Oh yes, ‘bad, mad and dangerous to know’ That was Constantine, and it was hard to think of a worse choice. If Artemis had just wanted a baby, there were better choices in the world. Much better choices. There were men currently locked up in Arkham who would be better choices. And if she’d wanted a magus, well, Jade would have been more than happy to let Artemis use Zacharias’s seed. He’d have been an infinitely better choice than Constantine, and surely Artemis had known that Jade would allow her to borrow Zach for that purpose. Assuming that Artemis had planned the baby. Her account of things was more than a little vague.
For that matter, it was possible that her sister had developed an interest in Constantine, stranger things had happened. But now was the time to put speculation aside. She’d have her answers soon enough, and then, she could formulate a plan that would let her ensure that her new niece (or nephew, either would be welcome) would enter the world in a safe, stable, and John fucking Constantine free environment.
I’m down for pretty much anything, with the only real limit that I’d like to be consulted before my character gets killed or maimed.div>
